Which hoop to choose?
If you are at the beginning of your embroidery journey, you may wonder which embroidery hoop will be the best for you. Their choice is very large - they differ in the material of manufacture and the diameter of the rim. Hoops for embroidering the so-called embroidery hoops can be made of wood, bamboo or plastic, come in sizes from 6,5 cm to even 50 cm in diameter. Very large embroidery jobs require a special hoop stand or the use of a loom. The hoop for beginners should not be more than 20 cm in diameter. It will be comfortable to hold and embroidering will not cause any discomfort. However, the decision regarding the material of manufacture is very individual.
Embroidery hoops made of bamboo are relatively cheap but the price does not match the quality. In most cases, bamboo hoops tend to deform. If the hoops do not match perfectly, the material will not be properly stretched, which will make work difficult or even impossible. In addition, a hoop made of bamboo may even break during use.
Plastic hoops are also an option for beginners who do not want to incur large expenses. They hold the material well. Unfortunately, as in the case of bamboo hoops, they can deform or break after prolonged use.
The most durable material for the production of hoops is wood. Thus, wooden embroidery hoops are an excellent choice for learning to embroider as well as for professional use. They do not lose their shape and are characterized by longevity. Of course, you have to pay for quality. Wooden hoops are the most expensive, but they are definitely a good investment.
